**Fellows from the 2012-2013 class will return to campus on April 11 and 12, 2013. Meet in Alumni Hall, SULB.
Purpose of the Fellowship:
This innovative program brings together teams of frontline staff and clinical leaders to bring evidence into everyday practice. Teams of frontline staff and clinical leaders:
Attend a 5-day intensive workshop
Implement projects over a 10 month time frame
Return after 10 months for a 2-day follow-up workshop to address analysis and dissemination of project outcomes
Together they plan an evidence implementation project to solve a critical clinical problem.
Fellowship Tuition:
The tuition for the Fellowship is $1,700 per participant. This tuition includes both initial and follow-up education sessions, all course materials, and 10 months of telephone consultation with Center faculty.
Fellowship Dates:
2013-14 Initial Training Phase: May 13-17, 2013 with a return for 2 days in April, 2014
Implementation Phase: June, 2013 through March, 2014
Completion Phase: April, 2014 (2 days with dates to be determined). Includes celebration and project presentations
Process:
Each participating institution will select a team or teams to participate in the fellowship program. We recommend a minimum of two frontline staff per clinical leader (note this recommendation is flexible). The criteria for selecting team members include:
Frontline Staff
Influence: needs to be an opinion leader and clinical expert within the unit/service
Education: a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience
Position held in the organization: staff nurse from a variety of inpatient or outpatient areas
Clinical Leader
Influence: needs to be in a position to influence change in the organization
Education: has obtained or pursuing a minimum of a master’s degree preferred
Positions held in the organization: e.g. advanced practice nurses, quality improvement specialists, nurse researchers, managers
To Ensure Project Success, Each Institution Must Commit the Following:
Paid time to attend fellowship workshops and 4 hours per month on average devoted to project implementation
Provide support and resources to evidence implementation teams and to the project
Ensure that the project topic chosen is a priority, can be supported, and has the potential for success (e.g. not a politically charged issue or one with little chance of success and resources are available and adequate to support project)
Ensure that managers associated with each implementation team support the project
Payment Options:
We will invoice either institutions or individuals for payment via check or credit card.
